If Paramus Public Schools Jumped Off A Bridge.....

Anyone else think it's ridiculous that school was delayed for 2 hours at some Paramus Day Schools because of an inch of slushy snow on the ground?

Public Schools were delayed, which was unnecessary in its own right.  But if you're about to give off for 2 weeks you should be making an extra effort to stay open this week.

Really ridiculous. And not all were - so obviously they don't have to do what the public schools do. Yeshivat Noam opened on time...I certainly don't want to endanger the kids, but the roads were well plowed at least by 6:30am when I looked.
According to the laws in the Borough of Paramus, when they close their public schools for snow or other weather realted emergencies, the private schools in the borough, by law, have to do the same. One private school in particular (which received accolades on this blog) for opening in the aftermath of Superstorm Sandy "got in trouble" for opening up when the borough was in a "state of emergency" and their schools were closed
Diggler,

Then why did Noam get to open on time?

I can understand if it's a "State of Emergency" but I really doubt a light snowfall gets that designation.

I'm sure this is something that will be addressed by the schools with Noam. At multiple meetings with the schools and the township they all agreed to be on the same emergency closing schedule as the public schools, including Noam.

Non-rip off school? Who might that be? Yeshivat He'atid ? The one that costs $9,000 and then begs from everyone to pay the difference?

Lol. It's not true, but even if it were, it would be better than charging twice that amount from parents AND STILL begging for money from everyone else.

If you are not on the inside (which you are probably not) you have no idea what "rip off" means. 80% of the schools budgets are for teacher payroll . The evolution of large payroll took years to achieve. Its all going to be fixed sooner than later. Try not using terms that are insulting. You sound annoyed but it doesnt give you the right to say what you want.
not to mention they are still in a rental facility.................
teaneck public schools were on time. absolutely ridiculous to have a delay today. if we follow the public school schedule for snow then why dont we follow it for the amount of school days in the year. public schools have 180 days of school we should have at least as many if not more since we are dual curriculum.
If we are worrying about days, why do many yeshivas have off tomorrow? People who feel the need to travel have all of Sunday and half of Monday. I am not cleaning intensively tomorrow so my kids aren't going to be needed. If we want to talk about taking days back, tomorrow should be high on the list unless someone can explain why it is necessary to cancel.
its absolutely ridiculous to have friday off.
Why are schools off 4 days before the Seder. Even if someone left to Israel on midnight Saturday flight, they arrive at 4 PM Sunday, 27 or 28 hours before Seder. For the 95% that do not go to Israel, and 80% that stay local, makes no sense.

I heard someone tell me, staff have to clean their homes. Well, i clean at night. My office is not closed for Passover OR 4 days in advance.
Education is needed for growth and development. I am not in the favor of School education but I believe open schooling concept should be motivated where child can learn whatever he likes and our parents need to come out of the Doctor-Engineer loop.
