Jewish Week Covers "Tuition Crisis"

The Jewish Week has a special section on education where they discuss blended learning in general and Yeshivat He'atid in particular.  They even give a shout-out to this blog so I thought I'd return the favor.  They mention the He'atid clones trying to open in New Rochelle, Long Island, Massachusetts & LA.  Also interesting to learn that YU is starting a certificate program for online/blended instruction for Yeshiva Day Schools.  You can read the whole section here:

And the front page story was about the ultimate way to beat tuition payments--homeschooling!
Homeschooling is great if you're good at homeschooling. It's not a solution for everyone.

Is there a good web site or two to read about homeschooling? Is it legal for say 3 or 5 families to agree to "homeschool" jointly, with similarly aged children, and the kids have their roving classroom which could provide both a social and educational approach?

I find it very interesting that the article says when "Heatid-like" school has already failed to open. There are thousands of Orthodox Jews in the greater D.C. area. Why did families not enroll? Did they believe this model is not for preschool? Was the price similar to area day schools in the D.C. area. Rather than one line that one already FAILED, perhaps an explanation. I think that is fairest way for the public to understand fully, as people may read into it poorly for He'Atid and their "sister" programs, while it may have NOTHING to do with model itself.

If you simply google the word homeschool and whatever topic in which you are interested, you will find oodles of links. The legality of creating a co-op to teach your child is different in every state. Google homeschool laws and the name of your state.

Why aren't all these schools moving to a He'atid' type magical model where not only does tuition cover all expenses, but at a fraction of the cost...... :)

It can't be that all of the schools across the country operate at 70-80% tuition and 20-30% donation and he'atid can do 100%.

I smell something fishy......
Everyone commenting on this blog should be required to read the NY Times OpEd from Thursday that "thatguy" links to above.

Private school tuition by der goyim costs upward of $40,000 and DOES NOT COVER THE COST OF EDUCATING EACH CHILD.
Wow! I have a negative 36 p.

Shocking.
